French Comes Alive on Stage

Pupils were treated to a lively French-language play, RSVP, performed by Onatti Productions in the Ben Travers Theatre. The performance was for all Fourths (Year 9) and some Removes (Year 10) studying French, and it was met with great enthusiasm.

The pupils enjoyed watching a fluent French production, and many even volunteered to get up on stage themselves, adding an extra layer of excitement to the evening.

The play, titled Léa & Théo, follows the ultimate “YOLO” couple as they attempt to throw a big party with no venue, no food, no outfits, no invites, and no theme - essentially, no plan at all! With just hours to organise the perfect (and very French) party, chaos takes over. Léa dreams of Parisian vibes while Théo just wants something low-key, and the friendship, the vibe, and the entire party hang by a thread. The fast-paced, humorous production includes audience participation, big laughs, and a whirlwind of drama.

One pupil said, “We loved it and understood nearly everything!” while staff highlighted the value of the experience: “It was such a good opportunity for the pupils to see how useful their French can be in a real-life situation.” Another noted, “The level was great; easy enough to follow along, but had some more tricky language to stretch those able pupils.”

The performance was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to experience French culture, practise their language skills, and have fun in a supportive, engaging environment.   The evening was a resounding success, combining cultural enrichment with an unforgettable hands-on experience for all who attended.

Pupils loved it - I can't believe how many wanted to volunteer to get up on stage!
